Nineteen92 Magazine is set to unveil its latest cover featuring “Heated Rivalry” star Robbie G.K. The magazine had teased a photo shoot with G.K. on Instagram two weeks ago, and now, Variety has the exclusive first look at the cover and a selection of sexy photos from the February issue.
In one of the photos, G.K., known for his role as Kip on the popular queer hockey series, showcases his physique by going shirtless under a blazer. Another shot captures him flexing his biceps in an asymmetrical tank top. The black and white portraits were captured by photographer and Nineteen92 editor-in-chief Tyler Chick, with Andrew Matarazzo as the creative director, Peiwen Wang handling styling, and Abraham Esparaza taking care of grooming.
Matarazzo praised G.K.’s transformation during the shoot, stating, “He has such a great leading man look, and I think it was really elevated in the way we captured him. Watching him embrace clothes that were very much outside of his personal style, and seeing his confidence grow from the start of the shoot was exactly why I enjoy directing actors who are open to going outside their usual comfort zones. Robbie is definitely starting a new chapter ahead.”
“Heated Rivalry” has quickly risen to fame, particularly for its four male leads – Hudson Williams, Connor Storrie, François Arnaud, and G.K. The show follows the clandestine decade-long affair between champion hockey players Ilya and Shane, with the third episode featuring professional hockey player Scott coming out by kissing Kip on the rink after his team’s Stanley Cup victory.
Nineteen92’s Tyler Chick drew inspiration from old masters like Albert Watson and Peter Lindbergh for the photoshoot, aiming to capture the essence of the individuals authentically. The magazine hopes to showcase the true humanity of the artists involved in the project.
Based on Rachel Reid’s series of queer hockey romance novels, “Heated Rivalry” has captivated audiences, with fans eagerly anticipating the second season. Reid expressed her desire for Scott and Kip to have more screen time due to the couple’s popularity among viewers.
