New York Magazine’s Olivia Nuzzi Admits Relationship with RFK Jr., Placed on Leave
New York Magazine has confirmed that its Washington correspondent, Olivia Nuzzi, has admitted to engaging in a personal relationship with a former subject relevant to the 2024 campaign. According to Status, the subject in question is Kennedy Jr.
The magazine released a statement stating that if they had been aware of this relationship, Nuzzi would not have continued to cover the presidential campaign. An internal review of Nuzzi’s published work found no inaccuracies or bias, but she has been placed on leave while the magazine conducts a more thorough third-party review. New York Magazine expressed regret over the violation of their readers’ trust.
Nuzzi also issued a statement to Status, admitting that her communication with the subject turned personal earlier this year. She acknowledged that the relationship, while not physical, should have been disclosed to avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest. Nuzzi apologized to her colleagues and readers for not disclosing the relationship sooner.
On the other hand, a source close to Kennedy Jr.’s camp told the New York Post that Nuzzi aggressively pursued Kennedy Jr. via text messages after an interview in California, with the reporter allegedly becoming “obsessed” with the politician. Nuzzi’s representatives have denied these claims.
