“Dancing with the Stars” Renewed for Season 34: Robert Irwin Set to Compete
ABC has officially announced the renewal of the popular reality competition series, “Dancing with the Stars,” for its upcoming Season 34. Among the contestants set to compete is wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin, following in the footsteps of his sister, Bindi Irwin, who won the Mirrorball Trophy in Season 21 back in 2015 with her partner, Derek Hough.
Robert Irwin, the son of the late Steve Irwin, recently made headlines for his participation in a racy campaign for Australian underwear brand, Bonds. In a statement to People, he expressed his enthusiasm for new and exciting challenges, stating, “I’m at this point in my life where I’m trying to do as many different and random exciting things. If it’s something that makes me a little bit nervous, that I’ve never done before and it’s a bit of an adrenaline rush? That’s what I want to be doing.”
In a previous interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2024, Bindi Irwin mentioned her desire to see her mother, Terri, and brother, Robert, compete on “Dancing with the Stars,” to which Robert responded eagerly, “I’d give that a go!”
The recent Season 33 of “Dancing with the Stars” saw a surge in viewership among younger audiences, achieving the best adults 18-34 ratings in four years. The season finale also broke voting records with a total of 32 million votes cast for the competing teams, culminating in a total viewership of 7.95 million, the highest in over three years.
Produced by BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions, Season 34 of “Dancing with the Stars” is scheduled to air on ABC and Disney+ in the fall, with next-day streaming available on Hulu. The full lineup of celebrity contestants and professional dancers will be announced at a later date, promising an exciting and competitive season ahead for fans of the show.
