Rory McIlroy and Team Europe couldn’t resist taking playful digs at Donald Trump following their triumphant Ryder Cup performance against the U.S. However, in an unexpected twist, POTUS chose to respond with composure.
Following Team USA’s inability to secure a comeback against Europe on the last day at Bethpage Black in New York, McIlroy and his European teammates sent a cheeky message Trump’s way.
Celebrating their Ryder Cup victory, the European team, led by Rory McIlroy, chanted:
“Are you watching? Are you watching? Are you watching, Donald Trump?”Trump replied: “Yes, I’m watching. Congratulations!” pic.twitter.com/exBd3iP6UK

In the celebratory footage, one can hear the players gleefully chanting, “Are you watching? Are you watching? Are you watching, Donald Trump?” while hoisting their hard-earned trophy.
Trump, a noted golf enthusiast, attended the tournament’s opening events in hopes of bolstering Team USA’s morale. To everyone’s surprise, he refrained from delivering a sharp retort to the jubilant Europeans.
“Yes, I’m watching,” he posted on Truth Social. “Congratulations!”
McIlroy and the European squad undoubtedly earned the right to celebrate their victory, especially after enduring significant taunts from the crowd during the three-day event.
At one point, McIlroy even had to urge spectators to “shut the f*** up.” In another instance, he confronted a thrown drink that landed on his wife’s hat, later condemning the fans’ unsportsmanlike behavior.

Luckily for all involved, a cooling-off period lies ahead, as the next Ryder Cup isn’t scheduled until 2027.
