If American politics were a disaster movie, this would be the moment that the small tornadoes combined to form a giant storm that endangers everyone.

A clear divide is emerging between Trump and Senate Republicans, who are poised to collaborate with Democrats to address TSA funding and alleviate long airport lines.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) recently presented a funding proposal to Trump, and Punchbowl News revealed that Senate Republicans were willing to back a plan to fund the remainder of DHS, excluding ICE and border patrol. However:

Trump rejected the proposal, multiple sources indicate. He insists that Republicans remain in D.C. to continue negotiations with Democrats over DHS funding and the SAVE America Act, a GOP bill concerning voter ID and citizenship proof.

Furthermore, Trump cautioned he would criticize Senate Republicans if they departed for the upcoming recess. Additionally, he extended an invitation to all GOP senators and their families for Easter dinner at the White House, which some interpreted as a veiled threat rather than a gesture of goodwill.

Meanwhile, the SAVE Act remains a key issue, with Thune offering updates to reporters on Monday.
