Rosie O’Donnell’s Struggle with Detaching from Trump on Social Media
Rosie O’Donnell’s therapist advised her to take a break from posting about President Trump for two days, but her resolve quickly crumbled as she couldn’t resist bashing her longtime nemesis on social media. The comedian’s fixation on Trump was highlighted in a Washington Post article that delved into her new life in Ireland, a move she made just days before Trump’s inauguration.
In the article, O’Donnell, known for her anti-Trump posts, mentioned a promise she made to her therapist to refrain from talking about the president for two days. However, that promise lasted only a few hours before she was back to posting about Trump on social media.
Her self-imposed detox was short-lived as she learned about Trump’s derogatory remarks to a reporter, which prompted her to vent her frustrations on social media, criticizing the White House press corps for allowing such behavior.
Despite her therapist’s pleas to detach and disconnect, O’Donnell found it challenging to stay away from commenting on Trump. Even after attempting to ignore Trump again, she found herself unable to resist the urge to engage in political discourse.
While friends and family expressed concerns about her inability to unplug from politics, O’Donnell’s brother mentioned that her move to Ireland was a positive step for her. However, her fixation on Trump continued to pose challenges as she struggled to disengage completely.
Her move to Ireland was a response to Trump’s victory in the 2024 election, a decision she deemed necessary to protect her family from the pain of Trump’s actions. O’Donnell’s tensions with Trump date back to 2006, and their feud reignited in recent years with Trump threatening her citizenship and labeling her a “Threat to Humanity.”
In response, O’Donnell fired back with scathing Instagram posts criticizing Trump and highlighting his association with Jeffrey Epstein. Despite the ongoing feud, O’Donnell revealed her plans to seek Irish citizenship as a way to distance herself from the political turmoil in the US.
