Running Point continues to captivate audiences with its unexpected celebrity appearances, featuring stars like Scott Disick and Macaulay Culkin.
The popular Netflix show, debuting in 2025, centers on Kate Hudson, who plays a former party enthusiast tasked with managing her family’s professional basketball team.
Alongside Hudson, the series boasts a talented cast including Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman, Justin Theroux, Drew Tarver, Brenda Song, and Uche Agada. The sports comedy is known for its impressive guest appearances.
Prior to the release of season 2, Us Weekly spoke with several cast members who expressed enthusiasm for a possible cameo by Hudson’s stepfather, Kurt Russell. The magazine suggested Russell could portray the late Gordon family patriarch in a storyline proposed in April 2026, which the cast readily endorsed.
MacArthur, portraying Ness, humorously remarked that he has “always thought” of Russell as his father, adding, “So I’m all in.” Guido, portraying Jackie, a new addition to the Gordon family, also expressed interest in appearing alongside Russell.
“I’ve been around, and I didn’t even think of that. Wow!” he exclaimed, while season 2 guest star Ken Marino commented in his interview with Us, “That’d be fantastic! Yes, that’s perfect. Get that out there!”
Executive producer Jeanie Buss shared her excitement about the idea.
“Oh, that would be amazing. Are you kidding me? Like, that’s a good idea!” Buss stated. “I totally support that.”
Executive producer David Stassen also endorsed the idea, indicating there have been discussions.
“That’s a great idea,” Stassen remarked. “And it’s been talked about. We’ve discussed it. If we ever do see him, we could not do better than Kurt Russell.”
