Ryan Phillippe is facing a lawsuit filed by a woman named Jody Sanders, who alleges that her hair caught on fire while at his Los Angeles restaurant, The Hideaway. The lawsuit also names Phillippe’s business partner, Jeffrey Best, and seeks damages for general negligence. According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, the incident occurred on April 6, 2024, when Sanders was sitting at the bar and her hair was burned by an unattended wax candle.

Sanders is seeking an unspecified amount in damages from Phillippe, Best, and The Hideaway. It is worth noting that Phillippe is a minority investor in the restaurant and is not involved in its day-to-day operations. A source mentioned to Us Weekly that Sanders’ claims were settled by the restaurant’s insurance a year ago.

Phillippe, known for his roles in films like “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “Cruel Intentions,” opened The Hideaway in July 2022. He rose to fame in the 1990s and was married to actress Reese Witherspoon, with whom he shares two children, Ava and Deacon. Phillippe also has a daughter named Kai with ex Alexis Knapp.

Currently, Phillippe stars alongside his son Deacon in the Prime Video series “Motorheads,” which premiered on May 20. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly at the show’s LA premiere, Phillippe expressed pride in working alongside his son and highlighted the unique experience they shared on set.

Despite his successful acting career, Phillippe values fatherhood above all else and takes immense pride in his children. He emphasized that being a father is an honor and that his children make him proud every day in various ways. “Motorheads” executive producer John A. Norris also shared that Phillippe had no part in Deacon’s casting for the show, emphasizing that Deacon earned the role on his own merit.

In conclusion, Ryan Phillippe’s legal troubles at The Hideaway have brought attention to his family life and successful career in the entertainment industry. His dedication to fatherhood and his collaborative work with his son on “Motorheads” showcase a different side of the actor outside of his on-screen persona.
