One Ukrainian volunteer group, the Right Sector, told The Post that Routh had been âblacklistedâ by them for his erratic behavior and grandiose claims of being a âsaviorâ for Ukraine.
âHe definitely had a messiah complex,â one member of the Right Sector said. âHe thought he was the answer to all of Ukraineâs problems, but in reality, he was just causing more harm than good.â
Routh was eventually detained in connection with an apparent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in September 2024. He was charged with attempted murder and is currently awaiting trial.
