In the latest match report, the Otago Nuggets once again fell short against the Nelson Giants, extending their losing streak to 12 games. The Giants managed to pull away in the final stretch, securing a 94-82 victory on their home court.

Despite a valiant effort from the Nuggets, led by Jonathan Janssen’s 26 points and 15 rebounds, they struggled to maintain their composure when the game was on the line. Don Carey jun also contributed with 22 points and eight assists, but his performance was inconsistent throughout the game.

Jeremy Combs was a standout for the Giants, recording a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Hayden Jones and Andrew Jones also made significant contributions, helping their team secure a crucial win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The game was in the balance with five minutes to play, as the Nuggets closed the gap to just two points. However, the Giants capitalized on their opportunities, pushing the ball inside to Combs for easy points and ultimately pulling away to win by 12.

Despite the Nuggets’ efforts to claw their way back into the game, the Giants’ strong finish left them with a familiar feeling of disappointment. The Giants also dominated the Rapid League game, further cementing their superiority over the struggling Nuggets.
