Delhi Capitals (DC) emerged victorious against UP Warriorz (UPW) in a thrilling encounter at the BCA Stadium, Kotambi in Vadodara on Sunday, February 1. The win not only secured DC a place in the Eliminator but also knocked Mumbai Indians (MI) out of the WPL 2026 tournament.
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, DC’s bowlers put up a stellar performance to restrict UPW to 122-8. Marizanne Kapp was the standout performer with figures of 3-30 in her four overs, while Chinelle Henry and Shree Charani also chipped in with two wickets each. UPW struggled with the bat, with only three batters managing to cross the 20-run mark, Deepti Sharma top-scoring with 24 off 19 deliveries.
In response, DC chased down the target in 18.4 overs, thanks to a solid batting display. Laura Wolvaardt led the charge with 47 runs off 36 balls, supported by skipper Jemimah Rodrigues (34* off 18) and opener Shafali Verma (29 off 33). Deepti Sharma was the pick of the bowlers for UPW, finishing with figures of 2-27 from 3.4 overs.
With the league stage concluded, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a direct spot in the WPL 2026 final after finishing at the top of the points table with 12 points from eight matches. Gujarat Giants (GG) finished second with 10 points and will face DC in the Eliminator on February 3 at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. The winner of this match will then take on RCB in the final on February 5.
