Tragic Case of Jocelyn Nungaray: A Call to Action
The devastating case of twelve-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray, who was tragically raped and murdered by two Venezuelan illegal immigrants—Johan Jose Martinez Rangel and Franklin Jose Ramos—has sent shockwaves through the community. These suspects have been charged with her heinous crime, which allegedly took place after they lured her under a bridge, holding her captive for over two hours before committing their brutal acts.
Reports suggest that these individuals may have ties to the notorious Tren de Aragua gang, drawing attention to the broader implications of immigration policy and public safety.
As Democrats engage in diplomatic discussions with figures like MS-13 terrorist Kilmar Abrego Garcia in El Salvador, the Trump administration has taken a different approach by honoring the life of Jocelyn, a victim of the current border policy under President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
In a heartfelt tribute, Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum announced the renaming of the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge in Southeast Texas to the Jocelyn Nungaray National Wildlife Refuge.
Burgum expressed on X, “By naming the Jocelyn Nungaray National Wildlife Refuge in her honor, we are creating a lasting sanctuary where her name will resonate with dignity and peace.” He emphasized the commitment to ensuring that Jocelyn’s memory is associated with a place of protection, life, and healing.

Burgum was accompanied by Jocelyn’s family and Texas Governor Greg Abbott during the renaming ceremony.

Governor Abbott remarked, “I am honored to join the Nungaray family at the Jocelyn Nungaray Wildlife Refuge in Texas, renamed by @POTUS, to commemorate Jocelyn’s life that was taken far too soon by illegal immigrants.” He added, “Today, and every day, we pay tribute to her memory in a place that ensures her name will always be remembered!”
