Senate Chaplain Prays For Congress To End Shutdown

Barry Black delivered a powerful prayer on the Senate floor, urging lawmakers to consider the impact of the ongoing government shutdown. He emphasized that no accolades are awarded for prolonging the shutdown, but rather, a sense of righteousness comes from caring for those most affected by it. Black referenced scripture and appealed to the conscience of legislators to prioritize doing what is right during this challenging time.

He has consistently included references to the shutdown in his prayers, but his words on Monday carried a sense of urgency. As the shutdown continues into its 27th day, it is on track to become the longest in U.S. history if it extends beyond November 4th.

Black’s poignant message serves as a reminder to lawmakers that their actions have consequences and that their decisions impact the lives of many. As the government shutdown drags on, his words resonate with a call for compassion and responsibility in governance.
