On Sept. 15, 1963, tragedy struck as four Black girls lost their lives in a bombing at the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. This event marked a dark chapter in the civil rights movement, with three Ku Klux Klansmen later convicted for their involvement.
