Severe Thunderstorms Expected in Colorado on Sunday

The National Weather Service has issued a warning for severe thunderstorms in Colorado on Sunday. The storms are forecasted to bring large hail and possible tornadoes to the Eastern Plains.

According to the NWS, the storms will start developing Sunday afternoon along and north of Interstate 70, with the potential to become stronger in the evening. Denver is expected to experience rain showers and thunderstorms between 2 and 9 p.m., but the metro area is not at high risk for severe weather.

NWS forecasters have identified Logan, Sedgwick, and Phillips counties in northeastern Colorado as the areas most likely to be impacted by the severe weather. The storms are expected to hit the Eastern Plains between 4 p.m. Sunday and 3 a.m. Monday, with hail potentially reaching at least one inch in diameter.

In addition to large hail and tornadoes, strong wind gusts up to 50 mph are also possible on Sunday. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue across Colorado on Monday.
