Tragedy struck on State Highway 1 south of Blenheim last month when a car collided with a campervan, resulting in the loss of four lives.

The devastating incident occurred around 10.40am on Sunday, February 22, prompting emergency services to rush to the scene near Redwood Pass.

Initially, two individuals lost their lives at the crash site, with a third passing away in the hospital shortly after. Sadly, a fourth person succumbed to their injuries on Friday, despite the tireless efforts of medical professionals.

The latest victim, identified as Belgium national Victoria Docx, was remembered in her death notice as a “warm-hearted, wise, strong woman with an open view of the world.” Docx had been exploring New Zealand with a friend at the time of the tragic accident.

As investigations into the crash continue, one individual remains hospitalized in a serious condition.

Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those affected by this heartbreaking event.
