Shane Gillis to Host 2025 ESPYs

Shane Gillis, the popular comedian and former athlete, has been announced as the host for the 2025 ESPYs, ESPN’s prestigious annual awards show. The ESPYs, which stands for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards, will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on July 16th. The event will be broadcasted live on ABC and ESPN+ at 8 p.m. and aims to recognize outstanding sports achievements, commemorate memorable moments, and celebrate top performers and performances of the year.

The show is a joint production between ESPN and Full Day Productions, with Connor Schell and Dave Chamberlin from Full Day serving as executive producers. This exciting news comes hot on the heels of Shane Gillis’ success with Season 2 of his Netflix comedy series, “Tires.” Gillis is also currently on a 40-city international stand-up comedy tour and co-hosts the popular comedy podcast “Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast” with Matt McCuster.

In addition to his thriving comedy career, Gillis has a background in sports as a former athlete. He was recruited to play football as an offensive tackle for the Army Black Knights at the United States Military Academy before transferring to Elon University for a year of play.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming ESPYs, Gillis shared, “I’m excited to be at The ESPYS this year. I like sports, so this should be a good time.” ESPN vice president and executive producer of the ESPYs, Craig Lazarus, also expressed his excitement about Gillis hosting the event, stating, “Shane is not only one of the top comedians today but also a huge sports fan, which made him an easy choice to host the ESPYs. We are thrilled to work with him to create an entertaining show celebrating this year’s best moments in sports and are excited to see what he’ll do on stage.”
