Shedeur Sanders Draft Collusion Theory ‘Nonsense’ … Leigh Steinberg Says

NFL agent Leigh Steinberg has dismissed the conspiracy theory that owners colluded to blackball Shedeur Sanders during the recent draft as “nonsense.” Shedeur, the son of legendary NFL player Deion Sanders, was expected to be a first-round pick but ended up being selected in the fifth round. This unexpected turn of events led to speculation on social media that teams had conspired to keep him from being drafted earlier.

However, Steinberg refuted these claims, stating that teams prioritize talent and the desire to win above all else. He explained that teams would not pass on a player with great potential simply to collude with other franchises. Shedeur’s slide in the draft was attributed to factors such as his performance at the combine and his preparation for interviews with general managers.

Steinberg, who also represents Patrick Mahomes, suggested that Shedeur’s decision not to throw at the combine and his lack of preparation for interviews were significant factors in his draft position. Additionally, Shedeur’s record at the University of Colorado and the shadow of his famous father may have played a role in his draft stock.

Despite the unexpected turn of events, Steinberg believes that this could be a positive development for Shedeur’s career. With less pressure to start right away, Shedeur now has the opportunity to develop at his own pace and become a dominant player in the league. Steinberg emphasized that Shedeur still has the potential to succeed, albeit on a slower path.

In conclusion, Shedeur Sanders’ draft experience may not have gone as expected, but according to Leigh Steinberg, it is not the result of collusion. Instead, it is an opportunity for Shedeur to grow and prove his worth in the NFL.
