The theft of $50,000 worth of walnuts from two trucks parked in the Bronx has left state police scratching their heads, as they seek the help of the food industry to catch the culprits.

The daring heist took place on March 2, when thieves made off with a massive 60,000-pound haul of shelled nuts stored in pallets from two trailers parked in Hunts Point. The audacity of the crime has left authorities puzzled as to how the perpetrators managed to pull off such a feat.

Authorities suspect that the stolen walnuts will soon make their way into the market, with the thieves likely attempting to sell them to third-party vendors, wholesalers, or distributors in the New York City area. State police are urging businesses, including restaurants and food distributors, to be on the lookout for anyone trying to sell large quantities of packaged walnuts, especially if they are being offered below market value or under suspicious circumstances.

The exact details of the robbery, including how the thieves gained access to the trucks, remain unclear. However, authorities are hopeful that with the help of the public and the food industry, they will be able to track down the perpetrators and recover the stolen goods.

If you have any information regarding this case, please contact the New York State Police Troop NYC at (212) 459-7800. Let’s work together to crack this tough nut and bring the thieves to justice.
