A shocking incident was captured on video over the weekend in Brooklyn, where an e-bike rider collided with a 3-year-old girl as she ran into a bike lane. The footage, shared by Williamsburg 365 News, shows the young girl darting into the lane at Bedford and Park avenues around 7:40 p.m. on Sunday, just as the cyclist was approaching.
Fortunately, the girl was only sideswiped by the oncoming bike, but the impact was enough to knock her off her feet. The man who was with the child quickly scooped her into his arms, while a woman from a double-parked car rushed to help.
The toddler sustained minor injuries to her lower stomach and was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment. Despite the frightening incident, she was fortunate to escape with only minor injuries.
The cyclist, a 22-year-old man who appeared to be a delivery rider, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. He was not arrested following the incident.
This serves as a reminder of the importance of being cautious and aware of your surroundings, especially in busy urban areas where pedestrians and cyclists share the roads. Safety should always be a top priority for all road users to prevent accidents and injuries.
