Shots Fired on CTA Bus in Wicker Park, Suspect in Custody

Chicago police responded to a report of shots fired aboard a CTA bus in Wicker Park during the early hours of the morning. The incident took place on the 1400 block of North Ashland Avenue.

Authorities were alerted to the situation after a bus panic alarm was activated around 1:05 a.m. Upon arrival, officers spotted a man carrying a gun and immediately began a search to apprehend him. It was confirmed that the alarm was triggered by gunfire on the bus.

Although at least two passengers were present on the bus when the shots were fired, they quickly exited at Blackhawk Street and fled the scene. The Chicago Police Department was able to arrest the 34-year-old suspect in the 1600 block of West North Avenue at approximately 1:22 a.m. A firearm was recovered by law enforcement, and charges against the suspect are pending.
