Adolescence continues to sweep awards in the UK, receiving six Royal Television Society Programme Awards nominations after winning eight Emmys in September. The nominations include recognition for the acting performances of Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper, and Erin Doherty, as well as nods for the limited series, drama writing, and breakthrough categories.

In the breakthrough category, Ellis Howard, Kaydrah Walker-Wilkie, and Maximilian Fairley will be competing against Owen Cooper for their outstanding contributions to the industry. Erin Doherty, known for her role in Adolescence, is also nominated for Best Female Leading Actor for her performance in Disney+’s “A Thousand Blows.”

Aside from Adolescence, other highly-nominated shows include Apple TV’s “Slow Horses,” Channel 4’s “Big Boys,” and ITV’s “Code of Silence.” Kenton Allen, the chair of the RTS Programme Awards and CEO of Big Talk Studios, praised the creative talent in the UK television industry, highlighting the originality and ambition showcased in this year’s nominations.

The diverse categories cover a wide range of genres, from arts to comedy drama, documentary series, and scripted comedy. The Royal Television Society celebrates the power of British storytelling to engage and entertain audiences worldwide.

Some of the notable nominations include “Big Boys” for Comedy Drama, “Last One Laughing” for Comedy Entertainment, and “The Assembly” for Formatted Popular Factual. The awards also recognize outstanding performances by actors such as Rose Ayling-Ellis, Anthony Boyle, and Stephen Graham in leading roles.

The event will also honor presenters like Hamza Yassin, Martin Lewis, and Davina McCall, as well as sports personalities like Gabby Logan and Ruby Tui. Writers and directors are also acknowledged for their contributions to the industry, with categories for Comedy and Drama writing.
