In a recent performance, Trevor Noah, the former host of “The Daily Show,” expressed his belief that there was a certain dark humor in the fact that Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA (TPUSA), was shot while speaking in defense of gun rights at an event in Utah Valley University last month.

“Picture this: you’re onstage advocating for the very thing that’s supposed to protect you, and then bam! Reality takes an ironic twist,” Noah remarked, illustrating the bizarre circumstances of Kirk’s fate. “I’m not even trying to make a joke here; it’s a strikingly odd situation to ponder. ‘Let me tell you why everyone should have guns,’ and then—whoosh! A gun is used against you!”

While he found the scenario surrounding Kirk’s demise amusing, Noah also took a moment to commend Saudi Arabia for its progress regarding civil liberties, evidenced by a recent comedy festival that welcomed both men and women as audience members.

“Meanwhile, over here, comedians are tiptoeing around the subject, trembling at the thought of mentioning Charlie Kirk’s name,” he quipped. “It’s like, ‘I wasn’t going to say anything about him!’—but the fear lingers: ‘Just don’t go there; it’s too sensitive.’”

“Oh, now you’ve challenged me,” he added, confidently asserting that, as a comedian, he believed he could draw humor from the grim topic of Kirk’s assassination.
