Changes in Store for CBS’ “CIA” Series

By: Entertainment Reporter

Exciting developments are unfolding at CBS’ “CIA,” the newest spinoff of the popular series “FBI.” Showrunner Warren Leight, known for his work on “Law & Order: SVU,” has recently stepped down from his role as showrunner.

With Leight’s departure, Mike Weiss, the current showrunner of “FBI,” is reportedly in discussions to take over the reins while also continuing to oversee and executive produce “FBI.”

While production on “CIA” will briefly pause during the transition, the premiere date for the show is still on track for mid-season and is not expected to be affected by the changes.

The one-hour crime drama stars Tom Ellis and Nick Gehlfuss, portraying two contrasting characters – a rebellious CIA case officer and a methodical FBI agent – who team up to investigate threats on U.S. soil.

Natalee Linez also features in the series, while casting is underway for a new chief of station following Michael Michele’s departure from the show.

“CIA” and “FBI” are produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in partnership with Wolf Entertainment.
