Janelle Brown met with Meri Brown for a session of the “ex-wives club” in the latest episode of Sister Wives. During their discussion, they took aim at their former husband Kody Brown and his preferences.
The episode aired on Sunday, October 5, on TLC, where 56-year-old Janelle reached out to 54-year-old Meri to deliberate the sale of their Coyote Pass property, suggesting Kody, 56, was reluctant to call Meri directly.
Meri expressed her confusion over Zoom, asking, “Why is he scared to speak to me?” She labeled Kody’s avoidance as “chicken s***,” especially since they had been married for over three decades before they announced their separation in January 2023.
Kody, reflecting on the situation, shared with the cameras that he unintentionally upset both women, admitting he was unsure of how to navigate the conversation.
Kody candidly remarked, “Meri tends to nitpick, so I thought, ‘Just disregard her.’ Then she mentioned pursuing legal action, and I was like, ‘Alright, we’ll sell the land. Everyone will get their 25 percent. Why are they so upset?’” He realized their frustration stemmed from his lack of communication.
Meri chimed in, stating that Kody was being “so foolish” during their exchange, while Janelle accused him of constantly portraying himself as the victim. (Janelle had previously acknowledged her separation from Kody in December 2022 after nearly three decades of marriage.)
“He has this shy and attractive new wife, as if that’s his type,” Janelle quipped, referring to Kody’s remaining partner, Robyn Brown. Janelle added to Meri, “Apologies, I couldn’t help myself.”
In a confessional, Janelle asserted, “Those are words that Kody has used: ‘She’s very shy and really pretty.’ I thought, ‘Good for you!’”
Janelle, who has six children with Kody, reminisced about their past, stating, “When we got married, I was somewhat shy, but never submissive. So, I don’t know if he misjudged me.”
Meri found humor in Janelle’s comments, teasingly asking, “The only wife? Or the only pretty wife? Is he implying something about the rest of us?”

“And I think none of us fit that mold,” Janelle replied. “So, I guess that’s his type: submissive, shy, and pretty whatever.”
Janelle chuckled, “Just a little side note, I had to have a moment of an ex-wives club chat.”
In their discussion about the shared property in Flagstaff, Arizona, Meri remarked that it was “not right” for Kody to place Janelle “in between.”
Meri expressed her belief that all four members, including Kody and Robyn, 46, should engage in these discussions.
Janelle stated, “I asked him to be part of the conversation, and his response was, ‘No, I just don’t like you.’ To which I replied, ‘That’s fine; I don’t like you either.’”
She asserted her indifference toward Kody’s opinions following their separation. Meri added that such frankness felt refreshing after years of tumultuous dynamics within the Brown family.
“I appreciate their maturity in just being upfront and saying, ‘No, I don’t like you,’” Meri commented to the cameras. “This is a positive step forward.”
Janelle also humorously mentioned that selling Coyote Pass would serve as a “nice parting gift” for both her and Meri, especially since Christine Brown had signed over her share of the land following her divorce from Kody in November 2021.
Meri playfully added, “Since we’re not getting alimony, I suppose this parting gift will suffice.”
Janelle expressed in her confessional that had she been legally married to Kody, she would have sought half of his assets. Kody’s relationships with Meri and Janelle and Christine, 53, are spiritual unions, meaning they cannot legally claim any family holdings.
Kody, who legally wed Robyn in 2014 and adopted her three children from a previous marriage, has included both Meri and Janelle’s names on part of their cooperative land in Arizona.
Reports in April indicated the family sold Coyote Pass for $1.5 million, having acquired the land back in 2018.
Sister Wives can be seen on TLC every Sunday at 10 p.m. ET.
