Apple TV+ has just announced the exciting news that the popular spy drama “Slow Horses” has been renewed for a seventh season. The darkly comedic series, which is based on Mick Herron’s acclaimed novels, will once again consist of six episodes.
The show follows the story of Jackson Lamb, played by the talented Gary Oldman, who leads a group of MI5 rejects known as the “slow horses.” This ragtag team includes River Cartwright (Jack Lowden), Roddy Ho (Christopher Chung), Louisa Guy (Rosalind Eleazar), and Catherine Standish (Saskia Reeves). Fans can look forward to the premiere of season 5 on September 24, with season 6 already announced last year.
“Slow Horses has captivated audiences worldwide with its unique blend of British humor and thrilling action. I’m thrilled that viewers will have another season to enjoy Gary’s brilliant performance as Jackson Lamb and the team’s slightly bumbling spy adventures,” said Jay Hunt, creative director, Europe, for Apple TV+.
The series has received numerous accolades, including nine Primetime Emmy Award nominations and a win for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. Critics and fans alike continue to praise the show for its engaging storyline and stellar performances.
“Slow Horses” is produced for Apple TV+ by See-Saw Films, which was recently acquired by Mediawan. The executive producers include Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Dan Hassid, Mick Herron, Gail Mutrux, Douglas Urbanski, and Gary Oldman. Season seven will be adapted for television and executive produced by Ben Vanstone, with Robert McKillop set to direct. See-Saw Films is part of the Mediawan group.
