Peacock Secures U.S. Streaming Rights for “Saturday Night Live U.K.”
Peacock has made a major acquisition by securing the U.S. streaming rights for “Saturday Night Live U.K.,” the new British adaptation of NBC’s iconic late-night sketch series. This move will bring the British version of the popular show to American audiences, allowing fans to enjoy the episodes on the streaming platform the day after they air in the U.K. on Sky One and Now. The series is set to premiere on March 21, with episodes becoming available in the U.S. starting on March 22.
“Saturday Night Live U.K.” marks the first-ever British iteration of the long-running “SNL” franchise. The show will follow the same format as its U.S. counterpart, featuring a core cast of comedians performing alongside guest hosts and musical guests each week. The talented cast includes Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young. The show’s head writer is Jonno Johnson, with a team of additional writers contributing to the humor and creativity of the sketches.
Produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio’s U.K. production team and Broadway Video for Sky and Now, “SNL U.K.” has strong leadership behind the scenes. “SNL” producer Lorne Michaels is executive producing the U.K. version, with James Longman as lead producer and Liz Clare as director. The show is overseen by UTAS U.K. Productions’ managing director Helen Kruger Bratt, with Shanna Baynard serving as executive in charge of production. The show was commissioned by Phil Edgar-Jones and Lisa Clark for Sky, under the leadership of Cecile Frot-Coutaz.
