Socialist City Councilwoman Tiffany Caban (D-Queens) Proposes Resolution Against Trump’s Deportation Plan
Councilwoman Tiffany Caban from Queens is leading the charge with a resolution aimed at condemning President-elect Donald Trump for his pledge to deport undocumented immigrants.
The resolution strongly criticizes the incoming president for considering the use of the military to potentially remove millions of illegal migrants, citing concerns about the negative impact on the nation’s economy and deeming such actions as “inhumane.”
“This resolution reaffirms our commitment to protecting our immigrant neighbors and rejecting policies that harm families, communities, and our city,” stated Caban upon introducing the legislation, which has garnered support from only one co-sponsor, Councilwoman Alexa Aviles from Brooklyn.
Despite Caban’s strong stance, a recent survey revealed that 54% of New Yorkers, including 30% of liberals and 47% of Latinos, believe that New York should support Trump’s deportation efforts.
President Trump has vowed to initiate the “largest deportation operation in American history” upon his return to the White House, appointing Tom Homan to oversee the immigration crackdown.
