The eldest son of Norway’s crown princess, Marius Borg Høiby, has been hit with a series of shocking rape and sexual assault charges. The case involves a “double-digit number” of alleged victims, according to authorities.
The 28-year-old royal, who is the stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, has been in and out of trouble throughout 2024 as accusers came forward. Oslo Police Attorney Andreas Kruszewski confirmed that the case involves multiple victims but did not provide specific details.
Høiby, previously known as “Little Marius,” has been open about his past struggles with cocaine addiction. Despite the serious nature of the charges, his defense attorney, Petar Sekulic, stated that Høiby is taking the accusations very seriously and cooperated with authorities during questioning.
However, Høiby does not acknowledge any wrongdoing in most of the cases, especially those related to sexual abuse and violence. Police revealed that evidence leading to the charges came from interviews and text messages.
The charges against Høiby include one case of rape involving intercourse, two cases of rape without intercourse, four cases of sexual assault, and two cases of bodily harm. He is currently free pending a possible trial, and the royal palace has refrained from commenting on the case as it goes through normal procedures.
Høiby used to reside with the royal family, including his mother Princess Mette-Marit, Crown Prince Haakon, and his half-siblings Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus. However, he now lives in a separate house nearby, as confirmed by his defense attorney.
Despite his royal upbringing and privileges, Høiby has faced personal challenges, including his admission of cocaine use and addiction. His biological father, Morton Borg, has a history of criminal offenses related to drugs and violence.
The case against Høiby has garnered significant attention in Norway, and the royal family is navigating the situation with caution. As the legal proceedings unfold, Høiby’s future remains uncertain, and he faces the possibility of a trial to address the serious allegations against him.
