Fortune favors the bold, but the Sparks seem to have luck on their side as well.

The Sparks are aiming for their third consecutive victory in the Super Smash as they face off against the Northern Brave in Mount Maunganui tomorrow.

Their recent success in Alexandra has been a morale booster, with strong performances in both batting and bowling to secure wins and regain confidence after a challenging start in the 50-over format.

Newcomer Laura Harris from Australia quickly became a fan favorite after smashing a world record half-century in just 15 balls to lead the Sparks to victory against the Canterbury Magicians.

In the following game, Laura Kotkamp and Emma Black excelled with the ball, while Harris, Felicity Robertson, Caitlin Blakely, and Polly Inglis contributed with the bat in a win over the Central Hinds.

This positive start has set the tone for the season, even in the absence of Suzie Bates and Eden Carson due to long-term injuries.

Having been runners-up twice in the T20 competition in recent years, the Sparks are determined to clinch the title this time, nine years after their previous Super Smash victory.

Meanwhile, the form of the Northern Brave is uncertain, with a rain-affected game and a heavy defeat to the Wellington Blaze in their previous matches.

Although they are yet to secure a Super Smash title, the Brave have reached the elimination final in the last two seasons.

Key players like Jess Watkin and Caitlin Gurrey will be crucial for the Brave’s batting, while Marama Downes poses a threat with her bowling skills.

Following the women’s game, the Volts men will look to continue their winning momentum from a recent victory over the Stags as they face the Brave men.

Both Brave teams have experienced a loss and a game abandonment so far in the competition.
