NewsNation

Stephen A. Smith is well-known for dissecting sports events … but he wasn’t holding back his frustration regarding the government shutdown during a heated onstage moment caught on video.

The ESPN personality participated in a debate on NewsNation, moderated by Chris Cuomo, Wednesday evening alongside Republican Jim Jordan, Democrat Ro Khanna, and Democrat Madeleine Dean.

Stephen A. Smith discussion

During the debate, an audience member approached the microphone to share his story of needing to drive for DoorDash just to meet expenses … revealing he is a professional air traffic controller who is not receiving a paycheck due to the ongoing government shutdown.

This prompted an impassioned response from Smith, who highlighted that all three Congressional members onstage continue to receive their salaries despite the shutdown.

Stephen A. Smith Through The Years

Smith expressed that many Americans are “frustrated” with their government lately, pointing to the staggering $40 trillion national debt … he emphasized that while taxpayers see deductions on their income, the debt keeps climbing.

As emotions ran high, Smith claimed he needed a moment to compose himself … before he ultimately stormed offstage.

Stephen A. has figured out the modern political framework … speak loudly and carry a stick — as you never know when you might need a quick departure.
