Steve Carell and John Krasinski, beloved stars of the iconic TV show “The Office,” are playing a crucial role in ushering in the next era of the beloved series. Domhnall Gleeson, who is set to star in the new “Office” spinoff series titled “The Paper,” recently shared in an interview with People how both Carell and Krasinski encouraged him to join the show.

Gleeson expressed his gratitude towards Krasinski, who shared valuable advice with him, urging him to take on the role in “The Paper.” He also mentioned the positive influence of Steve Carell, whom he had previously worked with and admired. According to Gleeson, both actors emphasized the opportunity to work with Greg Daniels, the creator of “The Office,” as a unique and rewarding experience that should not be missed.

The official synopsis for “The Paper” reveals an intriguing premise, stating that the documentary crew, known for documenting the happenings at Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch, is now seeking a new subject. Their search leads them to a historic Midwestern newspaper and its publisher, who is determined to revive it.

Joining Gleeson in the cast of “The Paper” are Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key. Fans of the original series will also be delighted to see Oscar Nuñez reprise his role as Oscar Martinez in this new comedic venture.

Gleeson acknowledged that while he may have considered the role in “The Paper” independently, the support and encouragement from Carell and Krasinski played a significant role in his decision to join the Peacock comedy. He expressed gratitude for their positive feedback, stating that their endorsement was a key factor in his excitement for the project.

Reflecting on his decision, Gleeson remarked that he believes he would have eventually chosen to join “The Paper” on his own. However, the overwhelming positivity and encouragement from Carell and Krasinski reinforced his confidence in the show and solidified his excitement for this new chapter in “The Office” universe.
