The incident at Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles, where a thief broke into a flight school and hijacked a plane before crashing it into a building, has left authorities and the aviation community stunned.
The stolen single-engine Cessna, valued at $450,000, was owned by Anthony Nercessian, who runs LA Flight Academy. Nercessian received a phone call at 5 a.m. notifying him that one of his planes had been stolen from the flight school premises.
