A shocking incident occurred on Thursday evening outside a John Jay College of Criminal Justice building, where a 28-year-old man was stabbed by a stranger in an unprovoked attack. The victim was knifed in the back around 7:10 p.m. in front of a building on 10th Avenue near West 59th Street, which is home to the university’s historic Haaron Hall, known for housing the world’s largest criminal justice library.

The victim was swiftly taken to Mount Sinai West hospital across the street, where he is currently in stable condition. Authorities have not confirmed whether the victim has any affiliation with the school. The attacker fled south on Tenth Avenue, and at present, there is no available description of the perpetrator.

As of Friday evening, no arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing. The building where the incident took place, constructed in 1903, serves various purposes including classrooms, faculty and administrative offices, a theater, a swimming pool, and a gym, as detailed in an online architectural description.

The safety of students and faculty is of utmost importance, and the college community is undoubtedly shaken by this senseless act of violence. The police are actively investigating the incident to apprehend the suspect and ensure justice is served. As more details unfold, the John Jay College of Criminal Justice will continue to provide support and updates to the public.

It is essential for everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. Acts of violence have no place in our communities, and it is crucial for everyone to come together to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
