Netflix’s hit series “Stranger Things” Season 5 has quickly climbed the ranks to become one of the streaming platform’s most popular English-language TV titles of all time. Following its release on New Year’s Eve, the series finale helped propel the show to the No. 9 spot on Netflix’s list. Just one week later, “Stranger Things” Season 5 has already jumped to No. 6, surpassing the likes of “Bridgerton” and “The Queen’s Gambit” with an impressive total of 115 million views.
Netflix compiles its all-time list by measuring each title’s viewership in its first 91 days of streaming. For shows like “Stranger Things,” which released its episodes in batches, the viewership for each batch is considered separately. This means that the first four episodes of Season 5 will continue to accumulate views until Feb. 24, the next three until March 25, and the finale until March 31. With this ongoing viewership, “Stranger Things” Season 5 is expected to climb even higher on the chart and may even surpass Season 4, which currently holds the No. 3 spot with 140.7 million views.
During the week of Jan. 5, “Stranger Things” Season 5 garnered 9.3 million views, securing the No. 3 spot for the week. Impressively, all previous seasons of the show also made the charts: Season 1 at No. 4 with 5 million views, Season 2 at No. 6 with 4.5 million, Season 3 at No. 7 with 4.4 million, and Season 4 at No. 8 with 4.1 million.
Topping the chart for that week was “His & Hers,” a limited thriller series starring Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal, which debuted with 19.9 million views.
As “Stranger Things” Season 5 continues to captivate audiences, it is clear that the show’s popularity shows no signs of waning. With its gripping storyline, nostalgic references, and talented cast, it comes as no surprise that the series has become a phenomenon in the world of television. Fans can expect more twists, turns, and supernatural encounters as the season progresses, promising to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
Stay tuned for more updates on the latest rankings and viewership numbers as “Stranger Things” Season 5 continues to make waves on Netflix.
