Netflix is set to showcase the fifth and final season of Stranger Things at a special event during Italy’s renowned Lucca Comics and Games Festival. Iconic cast members, including Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, along with the Duffer Brothers, will gather with fans for an exciting meet and greet on Halloween.

While fans shouldn’t expect any sneak peeks of “Stranger Things” footage at this gathering, it marks the first of such events announced ahead of the beloved show’s highly anticipated release across three parts: the first part will be available on November 26, the second on December 25, and the series finale on December 31. Additionally, attendees can look forward to an immersive “Stranger Things” pavilion set to be built in the picturesque Piazza San Michele square, alongside an exclusive store dedicated to the series.

The Lucca Comics Festival, taking place from October 29 to November 2, is a vibrant gathering for over 200,000 fans each year, nestled within the historic walls of the Tuscan town of Lucca, surrounded by beautifully preserved ramparts from the 16th and 17th centuries.

This year’s edition also boasts exciting features, including the presence of legendary Japanese game developer Hideo Kojima, who will participate in the “grand finale” of his “Death Stranding World Strand Tour 2” featuring panels and screenings of his newest video game, “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.”

The festival’s Movie Area will welcome filmmaker Luc Besson for the Italian premiere of “Dracula: The Lost Love,” starring the burgeoning Italian talent Matilda De Angelis (“The Undoing,” “Citadel: Diana”). Disney will mark the 20th anniversary of “Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” with special screenings, alongside previews for “Twisted Wonderland: The Animated Series,” a notable addition to Disney+’s venture into Japanese animation, as well as another anime series titled “Cat’s Eye,” which revolves around three sisters running a café by day and moonlighting as cat burglars by night.

Prime Video will spotlight the Italian adaptation of its reality competition series “The Traitors,” as well as the cult adult animated comedy “Hazbin Hotel,” showcasing the show’s Italian dubbing cast.

Comcast-owned Sky will debut “It: Welcome to Derry,” an eight-episode horror prequel series to Stephen King’s “It” film. In conjunction with the show, a chilling “Derry Bus” immersive experience will be part of the attractions at Lucca.

Sony’s Crunchyroll anime streaming service is expected to host a lineup of anime screenings, as well as panels featuring Kei Urana and Hideyoshi Andou, the creators of the “Gachiakuta” anime, alongside Japanese voice actress and singer Rie Takahashi.

As a unique event celebrating fandom, cosplay, and role-playing games, Lucca Comics & Games continues to play a significant role in Hollywood studios’ promotional strategies in Europe. This trend has gained momentum, especially since the Movie Area segment was established 15 years ago, making it an essential part of the cross-media universe of comics and entertainment.
