At long last!

After a protracted decade marred by allegations of misconduct, Stacey Abrams’ nonprofit organization, the ‘New Georgia Project,’ has declared its closure.

“We take pride in our achievements, the communities we’ve connected with, and the innumerable lives we’ve impacted through our initiatives,” the Board of Directors stated in an official announcement.

Once a titan among political advocacy groups in the South, the New Georgia Project will cease operations this week, signaling a remarkable downturn for an entity that championed Democratic values for over ten years. https://t.co/0SRZFR5WLx

Earlier this year, the Georgia State Senate initiated an inquiry into Stacey Abrams and her nonprofit, the New Georgia Project, regarding alleged illicit fundraising practices.

According to Atlanta News First, “Abrams, who is no longer associated with the New Georgia Project, is under scrutiny by the same Senate committee examining the historic indictment of Donald Trump by Fulton County DA Fani Willis during his time out of office.” Read more here.

The Senate committee is expected to concentrate on purported campaign finance violations, along with recent dismissals within the New Georgia Project, associated with efforts to unionize the voting rights group.

As previously reported, Francys Johnson, the organization’s executive director, announced his resignation following a substantial fine imposed on the nonprofit for campaign fundraising infractions.

Stacey Abrams, who has unsuccessfully run for governor in Georgia twice, founded the nonprofit in 2013 to galvanize African American voter turnout.

Abrams has often alleged, albeit without substantial evidence, that Georgia Republicans engage in practices that suppress black voter participation. She notably attributed her earlier electoral defeat to these supposed acts of suppression.

In January, the New Georgia Project was hit with a hefty $300,000 fine for unethical fundraising practices.

The State Ethics Commission’s lengthy five-year investigation uncovered that the organization had amassed $4.2 million in dark money, allocating $3.2 million directly to campaign activities, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.

Calls for further scrutiny have emerged, with many urging the Justice Department to investigate Stacey Abrams for activities concerning another nonprofit facing backlash over a questionable infusion of cash from the Biden administration’s EPA.

This year, Elon Musk’s DOGE revealed that Biden’s EPA allocated $2 billion to a company connected to Stacey Abrams, which reported a paltry $100 in revenue during its initial quarter of operations in 2023.

That $2 billion forms part of a $20 billion package that included funds directed to Power Forward Communities, a newly established nonprofit linked to Abrams, as mentioned by the Free Beacon.

The perplexing question remains: How did a brand-new non-profit, with barely any reported revenue, qualify for such a gigantic government contract?
