A substitute teacher from Kentucky is facing accusations of exposing herself during a video call with an underage student, intending to set up a sexual encounter, as reported by the authorities.
The underage male came forward to the Barren County Sheriff’s Office last Tuesday after details emerged that 30-year-old teacher Krystal Sims had allegedly been in communication with him regarding sexual activities, according to an official citation sourced from WCLU.
The teacher allegedly maintained contact with the student, whom she had met as a substitute teacher in Barren County, through Snapchat after he added her as a friend, according to the citation.
The two quickly began discussing the logistics of meeting for sex in Cave City, which is situated north of Nashville, Tennessee, the police reported.
On August 22, the student recorded a phone conversation with Sims, although he did not manage to record the graphic video chat that followed.
During the initial phone call, a woman is heard inquiring whether the boy would come to meet her, as outlined in the document.
The call then transitioned into a video chat, where Sims allegedly revealed her breasts to the student while taking a shower, according to authorities.
After speaking with the boy, the alleged offender informed deputies that she had previously declined multiple friend requests from male students on various social media platforms.
She recognized herself as the woman in the recorded call but maintained that her agreement to meet the student was solely for the purpose of hearing his apology regarding his conduct in class.
In her statement, she asserted that no physical interaction took place between her and the student, per the document.
The specific institution where Sims had been substituting remains undisclosed.
She was taken into custody later that day, charged with unlawfully using electronic communication to solicit, procure, or promote a child for sexual acts.
Sims was released after posting a bond of $25,000 on Monday, according to reports.
Her arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday, as indicated in online records.
