Supernatural reality competition “Battle of Fates” has taken the Korean audience by storm, breaking viewership records on Disney+ and surpassing the previous premiere benchmark set by “Moving” in 2023. Within the first 12 days of its release, the show has become the top-performing new series of 2026 across Disney+’s Asia Pacific region. Due to its immense success, Disney+ has announced plans to develop local versions of the show for additional markets.
“Battle of Fates,” which premiered on Feb. 11, features contestants from Korea’s spiritual and predictive arts community, such as fortune-tellers, tarot readers, and shamans, competing in a series of challenges to test the accuracy of their readings. Using a variety of techniques and tools, contestants strive to outshine their competitors and avoid elimination. The season concluded recently with the crowning of Korea’s top fate reader from the original pool of 49 contestants, exclusively available on Disney+.
The popularity of “Battle of Fates” has expanded internationally, with the show streaming on Disney+ globally and on Hulu in the U.S. This breakout title adds to Disney+’s growing unscripted lineup, which includes other successful shows like “I Am Boxer,” “The Zone: Survival Mission,” and “My Name Is Gabriel” featuring Blackpink’s Jennie. Additionally, viewers can look forward to two upcoming Japanese originals in 2026 – “Travis Japan Summer Vacation!! in the USA,” a travel docuseries following pop group Travis Japan in the United States, and the “Daigo Project” (working title), a variety show marking Disney+’s first Japanese entry in that genre.
The success of “Battle of Fates” underscores Disney+’s commitment to delivering diverse and engaging content to its audience, further solidifying its position as a leading streaming platform in the entertainment industry. Stay tuned for more thrilling and captivating shows coming your way on Disney+ and Hulu.
