“Today’s ruling reinstates the essential balance of power among government branches. The halt on nationwide injunctions is a significant triumph for both the American populace and the rule of law.” — David Warrington, White House Counsel
The Supreme Court has decisively curtailed the ability of “activist” judges to overstep their bounds and interfere with presidential authority, marking a substantial victory for the Constitution and the executive branch.
Since President Trump’s inauguration, lower court judges have leveraged their positions to undermine the agenda that brought him to power. Notably, out of 40 nationwide injunctions against Trump’s executive decisions during his second term, a staggering 35 originated from just five liberal jurisdictions: California, Maryland, Massachusetts, Washington, and the District of Columbia.
This ruling enables the Trump Administration to swiftly advance pivotal policies aimed at reshaping the nation — including efforts to terminate birthright citizenship, end funding for sanctuary cities, halt refugee resettlement, freeze unnecessary expenditures, and prevent taxpayer contributions to transgender surgeries, among other initiatives.
Responses to the Supreme Court’s pragmatic ruling celebrate it as a monumental achievement:
President Trump: “The Supreme Court’s decision represents a historic win for the Constitution, the separation of powers, and the RULE OF LAW by curbing the excessive use of nationwide injunctions… I was elected with a strong mandate, yet a handful of radical judges have attempted to usurp the rightful powers of the presidency, obstructing the policies that the American public overwhelmingly supported. This poses a serious threat to democracy.”
Attorney General Pam Bondi: “Finally, Americans are receiving the policies they voted for. The era of rogue judges undermining President Trump’s initiatives across the nation is over.”
Paula Reid, CNN’s chief legal correspondent: “This ruling is a significant win for President Trump, who has long criticized these nationwide injunctions… The justices are siding with him and limiting judges’ powers to block policies on a national scale.”
Elie Honig, CNN senior legal analyst: “This ruling is a substantial victory for the Trump Administration and reinforces the authority of the Office of the President.”
Attorney Jonathan Turley: “The Trump Administration has ample cause for celebration. These district judges have significantly constrained the administration’s actions.”
Sen. John Kennedy: “Anyone familiar with legal texts knows that federal judges have fabricated this notion of universal injunctions… They devised it simply because they disagree with the actions of the President or Congress.”
Melissa Murray, MSNBC legal analyst: “This is a monumental win for the Trump administration.”
