The Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. was rocked by a tragic incident on Wednesday night when a man allegedly shot and killed two Israeli Embassy employees. The suspected shooter, Elias Rodriguez, has been charged with first-degree murder as well as other serious charges related to the incident.

According to a federal law enforcement agent, Rodriguez is accused of shooting and killing Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky just after 9 PM ET. Surveillance video reportedly shows Rodriguez walking past the victims before turning and firing multiple shots at them from behind. He then allegedly approached the victims and continued to shoot until they were both deceased.

After the shooting, Rodriguez is said to have run back to the Jewish Museum where he admitted to the killings, claiming he did it for Palestine. It is reported that Rodriguez purchased the gun used in the shooting back in 2020 in Illinois.

In a heartbreaking statement, the Embassy of Israel to the USA mourned the loss of Milgrim and Lischinsky, describing them as friends and colleagues who were in the prime of their lives. The entire embassy staff expressed devastation over their murders.

Video footage of Rodriguez’s arrest shows him chanting “Free, free Palestine” as he is taken into custody by law enforcement officers. The incident has sparked outrage and condemnation, with President Donald Trump stating that “Hatred and Radicalism have no place in the USA.”

The Israeli ambassador to the U.S. also released a statement, revealing that Milgrim and Lischinsky were a young couple who were about to be engaged. The tragic loss of these two individuals has shaken the community and raised concerns about the impact of extremism and violence on innocent lives.
