S&W, a professional services group, has recently announced the appointment of Graham Charlton as a partner in its private client tax services team. Charlton, who brings with him over two decades of experience, will be based in Bristol, UK, and will also work with clients in Birmingham and the wider region.

Chris Shepard, partner and head of Private Client Tax Services at S&W, expressed his excitement about Charlton joining the team, stating that his appointment will enhance the private client tax services offering in Bristol. Shepard highlighted Charlton’s expertise in complex transactions and strategic tax planning, emphasizing that his skills will enable the firm to provide even greater value to clients by helping them navigate challenges with confidence and clarity.

Prior to joining S&W, Charlton held senior roles at KPMG, PwC, and Bishop Fleming. His specialization lies in personal and capital taxes, with a focus on advising private equity-backed businesses and supporting clients through complex transactions and tax planning.

Charlton himself expressed his enthusiasm about joining S&W and working closely with clients to help them achieve their goals. He emphasized that his focus will be on guiding clients through complex transactions and strategic planning to ensure they have the clarity and confidence to make informed decisions. By leveraging his experience in personal and capital taxes, Charlton aims to deliver tailored solutions that create real value for businesses and personal wealth.

In November of last year, S&W expanded its business by acquiring accountancy practice Haines Watts Scotland, further strengthening its footprint across the UK. This acquisition supported the firm’s northern expansion strategy, following previous acquisitions of Haines Watts companies in Manchester, Leeds, and Newcastle.
