Did you know that Joseva Tamani, a Fijian native standing at 1.95m and weighing 120kg, actually grew up playing hockey? Yes, you read that right! Despite his massive size, Tamani was once a skilled hockey player back in Fiji during his school days. However, he eventually transitioned to rugby after moving to Australia at the age of 19.

Now a formidable lock for Otago, Tamani has made a name for himself in the rugby world. With 31 Super Rugby games under his belt and a professional stint in France, he is eager to make a return to the national team. His recent performance at lock for Otago against Southland showcased his versatility and determination.

Tamani’s ultimate goal is to represent Fiji again on the international stage. His journey back to the top starts with his solid performances in the NPC. Otago’s coach, Mark Brown, has been impressed by Tamani’s resilience and skill on the field.

As Tamani gears up for Otago’s upcoming game against Hawke’s Bay, all eyes will be on him to deliver another standout performance. With his strength, agility, and determination, Tamani is poised to make a significant impact on the field and hopefully secure a spot back in the Flying Fijians squad.

The NPC match between Otago and Hawke’s Bay promises to be an exciting clash, with both teams eager to showcase their talent and skills. Stay tuned for an action-packed game at Forsyth Barr Stadium.
