Taylor Swift took a moment to express her appreciation to her fans after the triumphant unveiling of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.
“I still vividly remember the thrill I felt in 2006 when my debut album sold 40,000 copies in its opening week,” the 35-year-old singer shared on Instagram on Monday, October 13. “At just 16, I could hardly imagine that so many people would be interested enough in my music to devote their time and energy to it.”
Swift elaborated that throughout her journey as an artist, she has made it a priority to convey her gratitude to those who have supported her.
“Since that early time, I’ve aimed to meet and thank as many fans as I could who have allowed me to pursue this incredible dream,” she added. “Here we are years later, and this time, it’s a hundred times that many people showed up for me this week. I have 4 million thank you’s to send to you all and countless reasons to be prouder of this album than ever before.”
Since the release of The Life of a Showgirl on October 3, the album has shattered several records, including achieving the title of most-streamed album in a single day on Spotify and the highest single-week album sales in the U.S.
“Thank you for celebrating this work in theaters, buying vinyl, streaming, viewing the music video, purchasing CDs, and engaging with the poetry I’ve included in the album packaging. Your immersion in The Life of a Showgirl is something I’ll cherish forever. Just wow. Thank you for the beautiful bouquet 🌷.”
Swift previously shared her immense pride in the creation of The Life of a Showgirl, especially noting the effort she invested while simultaneously on her Eras Tour.
“I’m soaking up this overwhelming sense of pride and joy over what I’ve created,” Swift expressed during an October interview on Audacy Check In. “I don’t think I’ve ever felt this much happiness about an album release before. It’s a novel feeling, as there’s usually a lot of tension surrounding an album debut. This week, though, I simply feel uncomplicated joy regarding this record, which is something new. I just want to embrace this feeling for a while.”
Besides her new album, Swift has another exciting venture coming up. Earlier on Monday, she revealed during an appearance on Good Morning America that a six-part docuseries focusing on her Eras Tour will launch on Disney+ in December. The first two episodes are set to debut on December 12, with subsequent episodes rolling out weekly.
A concert film titled Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: The Final Show will also be released on Disney+ that month, featuring footage from her last performance in Vancouver.
“It marked the conclusion of an Era, and we were all aware of it,” Swift shared via social media after the announcement. “We aimed to capture every moment leading to the conclusion of this pivotal chapter in our lives, so we permitted filmmakers to document the tour and all the stories interwoven throughout the journey, including filming the final show entirely.”
