Peacock, the popular streaming service, is expanding its “Ted” franchise with the announcement of an animated series based on Seth MacFarlane’s beloved foul-mouthed teddy bear character. The exact plot details of the new animated series are being kept under wraps, but it will continue the story after the events of the two live-action “Ted” films. The series will once again feature MacFarlane as the voice of Ted, with Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, and Jessica Barth returning to voice their respective characters of John, Sam, and Tami-Lynn. Additionally, Kyle Mooney and Liz Richman will voice new characters Apollo and Ruth, respectively.
This new animated series is the latest addition to Peacock’s “Ted” universe, joining the live-action prequel series that premiered in January 2024 and became Peacock’s most-watched original title. MacFarlane also voices Ted in the prequel series, with Richman appearing as Polly, John’s high school classmate. Seyfried, who recently starred in Peacock’s limited series “Long Bright River,” will continue her collaboration with the streaming service in this new project.
MacFarlane is not only voicing Ted but also serving as writer and executive producer, alongside Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh who are also writers, executive producers, and showrunners. The team at Fuzzy Door Entertainment, including Erica Huggins, Alana Kleiman, Jason Clark, and Aimee Carlson, are also executive producers, along with Claudia Katz of Rough Draft. The series is a production of UCP, Fuzzy Door, and MRC.
The original “Ted” movie was a massive box office success, grossing nearly $550 million on a budget of $65 million in 2012, with the sequel also performing well, grossing over $215 million in 2015. Both films were produced by Universal Pictures and MRC Films.
MacFarlane, Wahlberg, Seyfried, Barth, Mooney, and Richman are all represented by top agencies and management companies in Hollywood.
Fans of the “Ted” franchise can look forward to this new animated series as it continues to explore the hilarious and irreverent world of everyone’s favorite foul-mouthed teddy bear. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project coming to Peacock soon.
