In a shocking turn of events, President Trump is contemplating the federalization of Washington, D.C., following a brutal attack on Edward Coristine, affectionately known as “Big Balls.” This incident has reignited discussions about safety and crime in the capital.
Elon Musk took to X to confirm that a gang of about a dozen young men attempted to carjack Coristine and a young woman. In an act of bravery, Coristine intervened to protect her but sustained serious injuries, including a concussion.
The D.C. Police have reported that at least two individuals have been arrested in connection with the assault.
At a press conference on Tuesday, President Trump addressed this alarming incident in detail, as well as through an extensive post on Truth Social.
In his post, Trump lamented, “The most recent victim was beaten mercilessly by local thugs,” emphasizing a growing concern that crime in Washington has spiraled out of control. He accused local “youths” and gang members of indiscriminately attacking innocent citizens.
Trump asserted, “They are not afraid of Law Enforcement because they know nothing ever happens to them, but it’s going to happen now.” He called for the prosecution of criminals as young as 14 as adults.

This latest incident follows a string of violent events, including the tragic shooting of Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, who was killed in a drive-by shooting in July, and an armed carjacking targeting a House staffer in May. In another disturbing episode, a group of teenagers terrorized local citizens in a Navy Yard park.
Trump has warned city officials that continued negligence regarding the crime epidemic may force him to take federal action. “If D.C. doesn’t get its act together, and quickly, we will have no choice but to take Federal control of the City,” he stated. He added that he would ensure that criminals know they will no longer escape consequences.
“Perhaps it should have been done a long time ago, then this incredible young man, and so many others, would not have had to go through the horrors of Violent Crime. If this continues, I am going to exert my powers, and FEDERALIZE this City,” Trump warned.

Let us take a moment to commend Edward Coristine, the young man who, in a moment of crisis, chose courage over safety. His selfless action in defending a woman against a mob of attackers has rightfully earned him recognition as a hero.
Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) has even suggested that Coristine deserves the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States, further emphasizing the significance of his brave act. Indeed, a personal visit to the Oval Office may not be out of order for this modern-day hero.
