The shooting, allegedly carried out by 18-year-old Jacob McMillan, also injured two 20-year-old Nassau Community College students. McMillan, from Baldwin, was charged with murder, attempted murder, weapons possession, and burglary. He pleaded not guilty and was held without bail at his arraignment. The Monroe University women’s basketball team, devastated by her loss, continued to play in her honor, winning their next game by 21 points. Head coach Damel Ling shared that the decision to play was made by the team as a tribute to McCleod.
