Protect and serve.

A recent incident in Texas has left one resident astounded when a police officer delivered his Uber Eats order right to his doorstep. This unusual situation arose when Harris County Constable deputies initiated a traffic stop due to discrepancies in the vehicle’s license plates.

The department posted about the incident on Facebook, detailing how the driver, whose identity was later revealed as Ronaldo Carrillo, was found to be using fictitious license plates.

Upon further investigation, the deputies discovered that Carrillo was in the middle of delivering an Uber Eats order at the time of his arrest. Rather than leaving the customer without food, the officers took the initiative to complete the delivery themselves.

“To ensure the citizen still received their order, Deputy Chapa stepped in and personally completed the food delivery,” Constable Mark Herman detailed in the post.

The department shared a series of images on social media showcasing Deputy Chapa arriving at the customer’s residence, food in hand, ready to deliver their meal.

“Great work by our deputies for not only enforcing the law but also going the extra mile for our community!” added Herman in the post.

The previously apprehended driver, Ronaldo Carrillo, now faces charges for tampering with a government record and was booked into the Harris County Jail, where he was issued a $100 bond.

This isn’t an isolated incident; law enforcement has previously stepped in to ensure that people in their communities receive their meals when delivery drivers face legal issues. For instance, in July, an Arizona police officer delivered a woman’s GrubHub order after the driver was arrested during a traffic stop.

The Tempe Police Department documented this act of kindness on social media, showcasing the moment when the officer delivered the pizza to a pleasantly surprised customer.

In another incident back in 2022, a Florida police officer was also seen delivering a DoorDash order after the driver was detained due to outstanding warrants. Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office shared images of the officer completing the delivery with the caption, “The driver had two outstanding warrants at the time of the arrest, BUT, their work didn’t stop there. HCSO deputies completed the delivery for the customer!”
