LUBBOCK, Texas — Colorado Buffaloes Fall to No. 16 Texas Tech in Disappointing Road Loss
There was no miraculous comeback for the Colorado Buffaloes this time as they suffered a crushing 78-44 defeat at the hands of No. 16 Texas Tech at United Supermarkets Arena. The loss marked CU’s 12th consecutive defeat against a ranked opponent and their 24th straight loss to a Top 25 team on the road.
Texas Tech (18-6, 8-3 Big 12) established a commanding lead in the first half, but a brief spark from freshman Ian Inman, who hit four consecutive 3-pointers, briefly narrowed the gap. However, a crucial offensive rebound by Tech’s LeJuan Watts led to a momentum-shifting 3-pointer by Jaylen Petty, propelling the Red Raiders to a 39-22 halftime lead.
Despite a valiant effort from CU, Texas Tech’s dominance on the boards and second-chance points proved to be the difference maker. Forward JT Toppin recorded his 15th double-double of the season with 16 points and 18 rebounds, while Inman finished with a season-high 12 points.
The Buffs struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 2-for-20 on 3-point attempts and a season-low .291 overall. With the defeat, CU (14-11, 4-8 Big 12) now looks ahead to another challenging road matchup against No. 22 BYU.
