An 18-Year-Old Texas Woman Arrested for Revenge Porn Incident
An 18-year-old woman from Texas, Taylor Jewell Richard, was arrested for allegedly showing a sex tape of herself and her ex-boyfriend at a bar in a twisted revenge porn case. The incident occurred at the District 249 Bar & Grill in Tomball, Texas, on March 3.
The ex-boyfriend, Michael Bassett, who is the owner of a diesel maintenance company, admitted to recording the intimate footage after Richard’s insistence. He believed that the video would remain private between them and was not meant for public viewing.
However, Richard’s actions of showing the video to others at the bar resulted in legal consequences. She was charged with felony Unlawful Disclosure of Intimate Visual Material, which carries a potential prison sentence of up to two years if found guilty.
Despite being released on recognizance with a no-contact order with Bassett, Richard reportedly reached out to him in an attempt to have the charges dropped. Bassett, however, stood firm in teaching her a lesson.
Reflecting on the incident, Bassett warned others, especially young men, to be cautious about recording such private moments as relationships can be unpredictable, and situations like these can have severe consequences.
